THE C.A.R.S. CAR-CARE GUIDE
Your first visit to C.A.R.S.: what to bring and what to ask.
A little preparation makes an auto-repair conversation more useful. Here is how to plan a visit to our shop at 132 E Cama Street in Charlotte.
1. Start with the vehicle and the concern.
When you call, have the year, make, model and approximate mileage available. Explain the concern in your own words. A new sound, a change in braking or a warning light is useful information even if you do not know the name of the affected part.
2. Describe when it happens.
Does the symptom occur at startup, once the engine is warm, while turning, or only at a particular speed? Did it begin after another repair? These details help the shop understand what needs to be evaluated.
3. Bring the records you have.
Maintenance receipts and recent repair invoices can help establish what has already been checked or replaced. There is no need to guess when the history is unknown; simply tell the shop.
4. Confirm the visit before you drive over.
C.A.R.S. is at 132 E Cama Street, Charlotte, NC 28217, near South End and I-77. Published hours are Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm. Call 704-859-4110 to discuss availability and whether the vehicle should be driven or transported. A website message does not confirm an appointment.
5. Ask how the estimate and approval work.
Discuss any inspection or diagnostic charge before authorizing work. Ask how the shop will contact you, what the estimate includes and how additional work is approved. Keep the final invoice for your service history.
