THE C.A.R.S. CAR-CARE GUIDE

Why your maintenance plan should fit your car.

Taking care of a vehicle starts with its actual requirements, mileage and history.

1. Start with the manufacturer’s schedule.

Your owner’s manual is the starting point for required specifications and intervals. A one-size-fits-all service list may miss what your vehicle actually needs.

2. Bring the history you have.

Receipts and service records help avoid repeating work unnecessarily. If records are missing, say so; the shop can help you plan an appropriate starting point.

3. Describe how you use the vehicle.

Short trips, extended idling and other demanding conditions can affect maintenance needs. Ask how your usage relates to the manufacturer’s guidance.

4. Treat changes as information.

Describe new sounds, smells, leaks or changes in performance promptly. A maintenance visit is a useful opportunity to discuss concerns, but it is not a substitute for diagnosis.

5. Leave with a plan.

Ask what is due now and what is approaching. Keep the invoice and mileage so your next service decision starts with useful information.
